Prop 65 Warning
Our Statement
The State of California requires businesses to provide warnings about products that may expose consumers to certain chemicals. Importantly, Prop 65 does not ban the sale of these products; it solely mandates that warnings are provided.
We are issuing this warning to ensure our customers have all the necessary information to make informed decisions about using our products.
Warning for Chili Nut Crunch
WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals, including Acrylamide. Acrylamide is a chemical that is formed in certain plant-based foods during cooking or processing at high temperatures, such as frying, roasting, grilling, and baking. It is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, visit (http://www.P65Warnings.ca.gov).
What is this warning?
Prop. 65 is a California state law requiring notices for products containing chemicals that California has identified as potential cancer-causing or reproductive-harming agents. It’s common to see Prop 65 warnings in California on consumer products, as well as in places such as restaurants and grocery stores, because California is the only state that mandates these warnings.
The warning above includes both cancer and birth defects/reproductive harm because a substance found in trace levels in our Chili Nut Crunch is listed under Prop. 65 as a potential cancer or reproductive toxicant.
Should I be concerned?
The list of chemicals under Prop 65 includes over 800 substances, ranging from common items like vitamin A, alcohol, and marijuana smoke to pesticides and heavy metals. These substances are often present in the environment and can naturally occur in food and beverages. Our products adhere to all FDA requirements.
